18 carat gold, sapphires
TENSION BANGLE SET
Full of tension and suppressed energy, this sapphire bangle is a quiet statement of power. Taken from the collection Somebody’s Sins, it epitomises the Hannah Martin design language. Combining masculine, graphic lines and sensual, feminine curves with subtle detailing this truly is a modern classic.
The cleverly concealed snap clasp mechanism at the side of this bangle adds a sense of mystery, creating the illusion of the piece being pinned around the wrist by the rose gold bars themselves.

Originating from my drawings of industrial bar clamps, this bangle is designed to reflect the suppressed energy and dark power of MrS. The form is a balance of the brutally mechanical feel of the clamps, and voluptuously curved sculptural lines.
I wanted an ambiguity in the piece – is it a bangle that restrains, or is it a symbol of powerful belonging? Is the metal drawing itself together or forcing itself apart?
I was interested in how the different views of the bangle could create very different sensations. From the top the lines are hard and straight – the channel set stones uniformly following the ridged gold, pierced at either end by a shaft of rose gold. From the side, the curves spread themselves softly around the wrist, making for an intriguing sense of masculine and feminine combining to create a bangle that has a subtle sensuality.
