18ct White Gold, Onyx, Diamonds
ONYX & DIAMOND DROP EARRINGS
Part of the collection Solaris, drawing inspiration from the astronomical research of the Enlightenment period, alongside the shamanistic alchemist at the centre of The Man Who Knows Everything story, these refined diamond drops can be worn singly or as a pair. A black onyx heart and our signature black rhodium finish create an inky night-time backdrop that allows the clarity of the diamonds to gleam in their full beauty.
Please note that all Hannah Martin earrings can also be purchased singly.

Onyx and 18 carat white gold with white diamonds and black rhodium.
These earrings are made from 2.4 grams of 18 carat white gold with approximately 0.21 carats of white diamonds. The onyx bead is 7mm in diameter. Each piece is hand made in London.
‘Solaris’ is Series II of the collection “The Man Who Knows Everything’. The character who formed the muse for this collection is loosely based on the infamous Comte de St Germain. A man of unknown origin and unknown end – his death was reported countless times, and yet he always reappeared - in another time, another place. Legend has it he was an alchemist who had discovered the elixir of life.
With ‘Solaris’ I wanted to create a world that he could inhabit – a world without boundaries – timeless and unplaceable. I became fascinated with the period of Enlightenment – a moment in time when science combined seamlessly with magick. The alchemical contraptions created at this time are both beautiful and mystifying. Pieces of sculpture in themselves – they featured very strongly in my research.
Alongside this I was also heavily influenced by the work of photographers Bernd & Hilla Becher and the graphic art of the legendary Cassandre. I immersed myself in the writings of Aleister Crowley, the films of Kenneth Anger, the work of Derek Jarman and the Russian Constructivists.
These earrings were born from my aim to create designs that mystified. The onyx sphere is captured within orbits of gold and diamonds. They hang, as if floating, below the ear and make full use of the 3-dimensionality of this space.
The subtle changes in hue between the jet black onyx and the gun-metal black rhodium creates a lunar colour palette when combined with the contrasting white diamonds. I picked these materials with the intention to create the sense of an endless night sky with no boundaries – timeless, placeless and boundless.
