18ct Yellow Gold
FACET SIGNET SEAL RING
Taking a traditional concept and subverting it to form a new style is something that Hannah revels in.
In this solid gold signet seal ring the inspiration was taken from mid-century Soviet propaganda graphics and monumentalist architecture.
The intricate detailing at the top of the ring contrasts with the clean lines and graphic sculpture of the body.

The signet ring is a very important part of the ‘Vincent’ collection, and appears in a number of guises throughout.
Vincent, the character, is an incredibly suave, sophisticated and deadly dangerous Russian gangster, ruling the streets of London with an iron fist. I imagine him impeccably dressed, a gentleman through and through. You would perhaps just see the back of his perfectly tailored coat as he sped off down a dark alleyway, or a flash of his gold ring as he stalked out of the bar he’d just completed his latest dark deal in.
Because my narrative was so heavily influenced by this gentleman gangster character of Vincent, I spent a lot of time researching very classic gentlemen’s accessories – from vintage lighters, through old watches and their chains to signet rings. The signet ring has significance not just in its tradition but as its use as a sign, a symbol, to tell somebody who you are and where you came from.
The faceted motif reappears throughout this collection. The graphic lines and architectural sculpture were drawn from my explorations of Russian monumentalist architecture, 50’s Soviet propaganda graphics and post-modern Russian artists such as Malevich, amongst others.
I loved the idea of taking this classic and giving it a twist, both in it’s meaning and in it’s physical form. Creating a new blueprint of this traditional piece to be worn by women, and men, with a certain strength and power.
