18 carat gold, black jade
From the collection Somebody’s Sins, these beautifully simple stud earrings are both elegant and very slightly subversive.
A shaft of black jade is bound to the ear by ropes of rose gold, the contrasting colour palette reflecting the juxtaposition of hard and soft lines within the design. An every day classic with a rebellious twist.
Please note that all Hannah Martin earrings can also be purchased singly.
18 carat rose gold. Carved black jade.
Each earring weighs 1.1 grams of rose gold and has a hand-carved jade bar. The earrings are handcrafted and set by hand in London.
Jade bar: 14 x 3.5mm
This earring grew from my study of binding, and the incredible taut energy created in this restraint. I was interested in the contrast that comes about when something soft is combined with something hard.
In the context of MrS, my dark and beguiling muse, the tension is an important part of his power. I wanted an earring that in its apparent simplicity reflected the references of Japanese rope bondage as well as the works of Pierre Molinier.
I wanted the contrast of the warmth of the rose gold, in its soft and sensual forms, with the rigid formality and darkness of the carved black jade. I wanted the bound earrings to be a coming together of masculine and feminine - a meeting of two opposing visual themes, to make a whole.
