18 carat gold, sapphires, black jade
BOUND EARRING LONG SINGLE
Taken from the collection Somebody’s Sins, this earring is beautifully subtle in its detail. A carved shaft of black jade is bound to the ear by rose gold.
Deepest blue sapphires set into either end of the jade create an intriguingly dark colour palette. Simple, elegant, yet full of depth – a quietly powerful statement.
Please note that all Hannah Martin earrings can also be purchased as pairs.
Edition of 60.
18 carat white gold with 18 carat rose gold & black rhodium details. Deep blue sapphires, oval cut. Carved black jade.
Each earring weighs 2.1 grams of blackened white and rose gold and has approximately 1.2 carats of dark blue oval cut bezel-set sapphires, set into a hand-carved bar of black jade. Each earring is handcrafted and the stones are set by hand in London.

The Bound Earring is a subtle nod to Japanese rope bondage, as well as an homage to my original muse – Pierre Molinier.
One of my favourite Molinier images is of only the lower part of his legs, in black silk stockings, shoeless, bound at the ankle with a black rope. The simplicity of the image is mesmerising, and the tension within the frame of the shot is tangible. There is something both demure and energetic in the pose. It was this sensation I wanted to capture with the ‘Bound’ series in the collection.
The strength and rigidity of the carved rod of black jade sits in stark contrast to the voluptuous curves and warmth of the rose gold that binds it. It is this contrast that brings the tension to the design as one element battles with another to find union as the overall form.
