This necklace is made from 17 grams of 18ct white gold. The pendant was originally created by hand carving wax. The necklace is hand made in our London workshops.

‘The Only Performance’ collection sees what is essentially a pyramid ‘stud’ shape that I have manipulated, stretched, twisted, draped and curved in many different guises across the designs.
The collection itself is an homage to underground London, the very darkest parts of it. Initially inspired by the film ‘Performance’, the narrative grew to become a tale about a London underworld inhabited by gangsters, fallen rock stars and creatures of the night; Characters that push the boundaries of masculinity, decadence and bad behaviour to the very limit.
From it’s very early stages I knew I wanted this collection to be a celebration of the very metal itself – clean, pure, graphic and strong shapes that celebrated the gold from which they were made. Unapologetic designs that gave their wearer the darkly thrilling sensations I had conjured up in my narrative.
The ‘stud’ form became an essential feature fairly early on. It really developed as I was exploring ways to play with the traditional ideas of using metal to set stones, and the idea of turning this concept on it’s head. With this collection I wanted the metal to hold metal, and to hold it in a way that talked of strength and power.
With this pendant I wanted to take the studs and make them work with the way in which the pendant hangs, almost as if the gold itself is fluid. I liked the idea that the pendant looks as if it were being moulded by the very weight of the gold it is made from.
By hand-carving the form, and exploring the sculptural qualities of the shape in 3-dimensions, I allowed the sculptural, almost sensual, flowing lines to sit alongside the knife-edge sharp lines of the studs, creating a form that has a thrilling tension within it.
